This weekend we have the opportunity to see the Ring of Fire, a rare kind of annular eclipse of the sun, best seen from a tiny Utah town called Kanarraville, referred to as the sweet spot by the hoards of amateur astronomers heading there. The eclipse is reported to be seen from China to Texas.
Of course the name of this eclipse makes me think of the man in black, Johnny Cash, and his famous song.
Also, of Donna Summer, the great disco diva who brought her own kind of heat to the world.
In honor of the Ring of Fire eclipse, Johnny Cash, and Donna Summer, how about this weekend we don our best black clothes, get some big 80's hair on, and mix up some hot watermelon jalapeno cocktails.
Be certain to wear special eclipse-viewing sunglasses.
Let's watch the sun and moon get their groove thing on!
