Poem Therapy 10:32 May 1, 2012: What Things Want - Robert Bly

What Things Want
Robert Bly
You have to let things
Occupy their own space.
This room is small,
But the green settee

Likes to be here.
The big marsh reeds,
Crowding out the slough,
Find the world good.

You have to let things
Be as they are.
Who knows which of us
Deserves the world more?
---

You have to let things
Occupy their own space.

Yes, we do. Each of us occupy our own space, and we're all deserving of the world, in our own way.

If we're lucky, we are allowed to occupy space in another's heart.
