March 1 Came in Like a Lamb

The alarm didn't go off this morning, so I woke in a frenzy to a mild Spring day. March came in like a lamb, rather than a lion. I had lion-like dreams, though. I had my pointer finger out giving a certain venal person the what for, and even pushed her on the belly, which was swollen with child, and then the dream escalated to shouts, invective and Joe Louis blows. I think I won. The weather inside is much harsher than Mother Nature's.

Today is my birthday and I am now exactly two years out from fifty. Man, do I need to get myself together and finish my novel! Age really doesn't bother me, and I have yet to hear the siren call of botox or plastic surgery.

Pisces March 1 Overview:
You know when to claim responsibility and when to let others take the credit. You don't have to worry about getting every little fact right today -- but your competition does! That gives you a serious advantage, as long as you are willing to move forward quickly into the darkness. from http://shine.yahoo.com/astrology

Chinese Astrology: Year of the Tiger
Take inventory of what you find important and what you put stock in. Make sure your priorities aren't shallow or superficial. You won't achieve your goals if you're not approaching them with your best effort. You'll gain nothing if your pursuits are dishonest. from http://shine.yahoo.com/astrology/chinese/tiger/yearly-overview

We're now three months into the year, and so far, 2010 has been a take no prisoners kind of year. According to the stars, this is what we can expect:

March 2010 begins with a heavy-duty mixture of golden opportunities and major challenges. Keep sending out your thoughts and prayers for spiritual healing and support to family members, friends and associates following the powerful Full Moon linking Pisces and Virgo on Sunday. In addition, yesterday's first Sun-Jupiter union in Pisces in 12 years suggests that fervent wishes have a chance of materializing and that long-sought goals still have a promising glow. This auspicious energy-field is reinforced early on as Venus in Pisces makes a flowing trine to Pallas in Scorpio (1:52AM PST). Problem-solving skills are at your disposal. Morning dreams and visions should be recorded for future implementation as Mercury enters Pisces (5:29AM PST) until March 17. Tap into your intuition for guidance even while the Moon in Virgo puts a premium on cogent, clear logic and mental analysis. Surprises and shock waves can arrive on the scene as the Moon opposes Uranus (9:37AM PST) - beginning a void lunar uncertainty zone lasting until 4:32PM PST when the Moon enters airy Libra. It is during this 6+ hour limbo time-span that Mercury makes its third, off-kilter 150-degree tie to Mars (4:15PM PST) in the past few months. Think before you act and speak. Don't project angry feelings on to well-meaning pals and colleagues. If frustrations and stress are building tonight, chalk it up to the monthly Moon-Saturn union in Libra (9:03PM PST) as well as a dicey Ceres-Uranus square pattern (11:54PM PST). Be extra sensitive in dealing with loved ones under pressure.

I culled the following on wiki for March 1:

FYI:

- March 1 is the 60th day of the year (61st in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 305 days remaining until the end of the year.

- In Iceland, Beer Day (Icelandic: Bjórdagurinn or Bjórdagur[1]) is celebrated every year on March 1, honoring the elimination of the 74-year prohibition of beer. Prohibition lasted from 1915 to March 1, 1989.

- Martenitsa (Bulgarian: мартеница, pronounced [ˈmartɛnit͡sa]; plural мартеници martenitsi) is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn from March 1 until around the end of March (or the first time an individual sees a stork, swallow or budding tree). The name of the holiday is Baba Marta. "Baba" (баба) is the Bulgarian word for "grandmother" and Mart (март) is the Bulgarian word for the month of March. Baba Marta is a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the upcoming spring. The month of March, according to Bulgarian folklore, marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off winter and welcoming spring.

- National Pig Day is an event held annually on March 1 in the United States to celebrate the pig. The holiday celebration was started in 1972 by sisters Ellen Stanley, a teacher in Lubbock, Texas, and Mary Lynne Rave of Beaufort, North Carolina. According to Rave the purpose of National Pig Day is "to accord the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most intellectual and domesticated animals."[2] The holiday is most often celebrated in the Midwest. National Pig Day includes events at zoos, schools,[5] nursing homes, and sporting events around the United States. It is also recognized at "pig parties" where pink pig punch and pork delicacies are served, and pink ribbon pigtails are tied around trees in the pigs' honor.[2] According to Chase's Calendar of Events, National Pig Day is on the same day as pseudo-holidays Share a Smile day and Peanut Butter Lover's day. The question of whether the holiday is a time to honor pigs by "giving them a break" or to appreciate their offerings (spare ribs, bacon and ham) is an open question.

- Saint David's Day (Welsh: Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant) is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on 1 March each year. The date of 1 March was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David on that day in 589, and has been celebrated by followers since then. The date was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century.

- Historically, March 1st was considered to be the beginning of the Roman 'work year' as January (the official first month) and February were unfit for warfare. The numerical Latin names of some months reflect this. (September = Seventh, October = Eighth, November = Ninth, December = Tenth).
